Annual Fund

EB is an independent school, founded and supported by parents, past and present.

As with most independent schools, tuition payments alone do not cover the full cost of an EB education. Because families can give to the Annual Fund at differing levels based on their financial circumstances, it is an important part of EB’s ability to enroll students from a broader socio-economic spectrum.

Why is the Annual Fund Important?

The money raised during the Annual Fund campaign supports the general operating budget of the school. Tuition covers only 91% of EB’s annual budget —this means that donations are critical for EB to balance its budget and keep our school thriving. The funds are utilized for many different purposes, including: tuition assistance, teacher professional development, equipment, facilities maintenance, garden supplies, books, and more.

Each year, a recommended gift amount is announced. As our people and facilities costs continue to rise each year, so too must the recommended gift. Every family is encouraged to stretch to give at the highest level that is financially feasible for them. Gifts of every amount are valued and appreciated—when everyone contributes, we all benefit. We strive for 100% participation from our community. A gift that is personally meaningful enriches the school's vision and advances the EB experience for all. At EB, we commit to fostering an environment rooted in trust, where all gifts are cared for, appreciated, and matter.

The Annual Fund is a community-building fundraiser. In addition to parents, trustees, faculty, staff, grandparents, alumni parents, alumni and friends of EB all contribute generously. Gifts are also provided by companies through matching gift programs.

Manon Johnson, Director of Admissions

Giving to EB is making me feel like I participate in the success of the school. It is super important for our students, parents, and colleagues to care so deeply about our school, and show our support.

Gifts at Work

Donations help make EB a special place for our kids to learn and grow. Annual Fund gifts are used in the school's general operating budget and cover things like teacher training, tuition assistance, classroom resources, and more. Thanks to our community's generosity in 2021-2022:

  • Over 200 Middle School and Lower School students participated in overnight field trips
  • 24 Maternelle classes participated in experiential learning, whether in the classroom or outside the classroom
  • 35 teachers received professional development training, such as in equity, neurodiversity, balanced literacy, SEL, DELF and more!

  • 10 Tech Tub2, compact, easy-to-use in-class charging station, were purchased to help streamline learning in the classroom
  • Visitor Management System was implemented to support appropriate identity screening for campus security
  • Over 125 new DEIJ books were purchased for the library and for classroom resources, primarily procured through Marcus Books
  • 75 Lower School students participated in the Hour of Code in December
